Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Fabio Katz has been living in Ottawa,
Canada since 1989. Listened to classical music every day at home since day one.
Learned classical guitar with Roberto Lara and Horacio Ceballos in
Buenos Aires. Took electric guitar and jazz guitar lessons in Buenos Aires and Ottawa.
Participated in a Guitar Craft weekend in New York and in the Guitar
Craft Level I in Gandara, Argentina. Played guitar in several bands in Argentina and Canada.
Picked up the Stick in 1995, after attending a King Crimson concert
in Buenos Aires. The beginning of a fruitful jouney.
Attended Stick seminars, took private Stick lessons and met with many
other Stick players in Canada, U.S.A. and Argentina.
Started using the Oberheim Echoplex looping device in 1996 after visiting
the incredible Stick player Guillermo Cides in Buenos Aires (very inspiring!).
In the Ottawa area, Fabio has performed at many venues, including Rasputin's,
The Black Sheep Inn, The After Eight Jazz Club, Chapters Bookstores, Zaphod
Beeblebrox and Vineyards.
Fabio's repertoire shows influences from classical music, progresive
rock, tango, jazz and world music. Fabio combines the Stick, sound
effects and the looping device to perform originals and covers that range
from chamber music to tango fugues.
