Hammond B-3 Organ

As a child, I listened to my father play his Hammond B-3 organ at home in the living room at the request of my grandmother. For a few years, its sound set the tone for the worship services at church. After his remarriage, he rarely played it because his wife thought it was too loud and didn’t sound “pretty”. The first thing he did when she divorced him was to lift the cover and warm up the speaker. It whirred and hummed like the prop on a cesna and when he played that first chord, I knew he’d be okay.

I am selling the organ because I do not have the talents of my father. I have artistic strengths of my own, and friends have tried to persuade me to learn how to play the organ so I can continue to live amongst its beauty, but I am not a musician. I will not sell this organ to a collector, who will simply try to buy it and sell it at a higher price. This instrument deserves to be played with the love and talent my father brought to it. It does not deserve to sit in a show room, or in my basement. The Hammond, when combined with the Leslie, can produce unimaginable sounds; these sounds need to be played with passion so a church or Roll ‘n’ Roll band would be my ideal buyer.

I am asking $6,000 as that is the price a B-3 of this condition is worth and sold for at reputable companies. You will get everything: the organ, Leslie, bench, and foot pedals.
