Hi, my name is Shane, a.k.a. Hefalump in IRC and in fact, since primary (grade) school, when a teacher read us chapter 5 from A A Milne's "Winnie the Pooh" - "In which Piglet meets a Heffalump".

Piglet and Pooh go hunting heffalumps. Their bait, honey. Needless to say because of Poohs love of honey, he ends up with the honey pot stuck on his head. Piglet sees this and not knowing it's Pooh, runs off in fear of the heffalump they have captured.

Because of my stature and the way I played "tag" games, my fellow students nicknamed me Heffalump.

When joining IRC for the first time I assumed that nicks were limited to 8 characters, so I dropped
an "f" leaving... Hefalump. You may notice that I am called other names that are derivatives of this... hence; hef, heffie, heffy, hefa &
lumpy.

Born on March 17, 1956 at the Salvation Army Hospital in Grey Lynn. (a suburb of Auckland, New Zealand) Yes, that makes me 46. If you've read my other blurb, you'll see I am into IRC. (internet relay chat)

I trained as an Automotive Diesel Mechanic and spent 22 years in the trade.

Recently giving it up to care full time for my almost 90 year old father. He was diagnosed as having renal failure 6 months ago. Together, we have progressed onto CAPD (continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis) a.k.a. "the bags". This system replaces the kidney function by filling the peritoneum (intestinal body cavity or belly) with fluid that is replaced every three to five hours except over night.

added the "S" to my smiley

of a typo.
