Transparent Gifs

  • Using Paint Shop Pro create your graphic.
    Be sure to use a unique color not found in the visible portion of the image for your background color.
  • SelectCOLORS> SET PALETTE TRANSPARENCY
  • Click on Set the transparency value to palette entry. (If not created as a 256 color image you will be given the option of converting it to one, do so.)
  • Move the mouse pointer onto the image & "suck" up the background color.(you may have to move the dialog box out of the way if it is covering the image)
  • SelectCOLORS> VIEW PALETTE TRANSPARENCY
    If you did everything right the background should change to a checkerboard.
  • Save your image as a GIF
