In 1969, while I was on an early morning watch,
I began writing an essay called "What is a Fire Fighter?". Back then
then push had just begun to start calling fireman fire fighter,or as
it turned out to be firefighter. The essay is seven paragraphs long.
In 1976 I had color lithographed copies
made of this essay by Bond Press in Hartford Connecticut in 1976. The
last paragraph of my essay reads as follows:
"What is a fire fighter? Ask the people that he has helped in times of
fire, flood, plane and boat disasters, accidents through carelessness
or in times of war. When others walk away the fire fighter must now
take on the responsibilities of saving lives and property. A giant, a
superman, a constant vigil for the prevention of fire. Oh, to have the
eyes and faith of a child. If only the grown-ups were so blessed, the
fire fighter's life would be the richest on earth. This essay was done
in the old style lithograph process on high quality parchment style
paper with a colorful border.
