Welcome ... my name is Linda-Jeanne Dolby and I'm responsible for New Haven County. I do not actually live in New Haven County, but my roots are here and my interest in genealogy and the USGenWeb Project in particular, have led me to volunteer my time. Please contact me if you would like to contribute in any way to this project or to adopt one of the towns located within New Haven County to further develop the resources of that town. Any help will be appreciated.
New Haven County is located in the south central part of CT; contains 610 sq miles; and the elevation ranges from sea level to approx 1000 ft. New Haven County was created May 10, 1666 as one of the four original counties in CT.

USGenWeb Census Projects This search features a companion Advanced Search for each state where you may search for surnames that sound alike, sort census records for browsing, or use other options. Taken from both cemetery records and tombstones, you will find info on a number of people who repose at Evergreen Cemetery in New Haven, CT.
A very kind researcher found out that donated bodies to Yale New Haven Hospital whose remains go unclaimed may have gone to Evergreen Cemetery where ashes are buried (unsure if any bodies are interred). There are no stones or markers.

Cemeteries of New Haven County or U.S. Geological Survey GNIS Cemetery List both list the name and location of each cemetery. Please note that town borders may have changed and in many cases the town indicated is located nearby, but not the actual location.
Fred's Very Eclectic Home Page features Connecticut Regiments and their graves, Waterbury Graves, Woodbury's North Cemetery, and the Roxbury Furnace.

Some Famous Personalities Buried in New Haven County.
On September 28, 1996 I went to the Dallas Library and copied from Microfilm CT 0982124, Record of Connecticut Men in the War of Rebellion 1861-1865, a list that includes the surnames Judson, Parmelee, Dudley, and Kemp.
An online database run by the United States National Park Service will allow you to search for ancestors who fought on either side in the American Civil War. The database contains over 6 million records. Found it a little slow to respond, but is well worth the wait. Follow the "the system" links on the right side of the screen to begin your search
