Solview

Solview is a graphical utility to display useful information about a computer running the Solaris operating system.

The information shown includes:

• Installed Software
• Services
• General information about the system

Additionally, if solview is invoked with the full path to a Solaris installation image (the Product directory), then it can show details about the software in that installation image.

Toolbar

The toolbar contains a small number of menus.

• File - allows you to exit solview.
• Tools - allows you to launch other utilities that show information about your system.
• Dependencies - lets you evaluate the package dependenies fully (inlcuding all those packages that depend on a given package) for either the Installed software, or a solaris distribution. This will add an extra information panel to the right-hand pane, showing dependant packages. (Evaluating these dependencies can take a little while, which is why it isn't done by default.)
• Help - shows this help file.
